As much as the theories about Melinda are super cool I just can’t stop thinking about these two panels
and I feel like this is just one of the reasons why I love Spy x Family so much, and especially why I love Yor. She's just so awkward and doesn't understand others at all and I just relate to that so Much!
And I feel like Anya as a character, encompass both her parents with her own social skills. With Loyd, his skill at acting in favor of what people want from him, and his keenness at finding out what people want from him or how they expect him to act reflects in Anya's ability to literally read other people's minds, but like Yor she can also easily misinterpret people's intentions and worry about what they'd think about her on certain topics. She just really feels like a product of both Loyd and Yor even if she's not their biological child.
But yeah, Anya an Yor both face the existential crisis of wanting and desiring to be liked by the people around them yet they're convinced that what they perceive to be their one and only skill is something that will cause people to hate them or harm them. In both cases it likely will, but they still strive to be normal and fit in with the rest of the people around them. And I just find that so relatable making the later moments so reassuring.
Yor's realization that not knowing everything on how to do everything is normal and expected! and although Anya's actions has a lot riding on it, I hope she gets to realize that it's okay that she doesn't do everything exactly perfectly. Perhaps they'll be able to find a plan C if Anya ends up messing everything up.
Idk it's just such a hopeful and reassuring thing that I noticed in Yor and in the main trio in general.
Like I know, Loyd has the skills to actually act normal, his constant worrying feels just like Anya's or Yor's internal panic.
Ugh I'm rambling.
Uh, Yor is very relatable because I too do not know how to be normal. I think the entire Forger family doesn't know how to be normal either but the story says that's okay which is assuring.
